Determine the Need //

The Hughes had a deteriorating deck that was original to their 1980’s house.

Adding another coat of stain was no longer going to help their structure feel safe. Rather than rebuild the wood deck using the same footprint, they envisioned creating a covered outdoor space where they could watch their favorite sports.

Define The Path //

Being somewhat new to the area, the Hughes were unfamiliar with local contractors.

They went off reviews and websites they found in their online searches for deck builders. The Hughes had three questions that needed answering before deciding if a deck contractor was right for them:

Can the deck builder do what we need within our budget?
Can we trust the builder?
Will they bring creative ideas to help us get the space we’re looking for?

It was initially thought that a screened in porch was the solution. However, when comparing the cost to create a more permanent 3 season room with actual windows and drywall, they learned the price wasn’t much more.

The appeal of being able to enjoy the space (bug and humidity free) year-round won them over. Completed with underdecking, a tile floor and a mini split system, the Hughes are looking forward to many seasons of cheering on their Georgia teams in ultimate comfort.
